POLICIES
I aim to provide a transparent and professional experience for all of my clients. Please read through the following policies regarding consultations, deposits, cancellations, age limits, placements, touch-ups, & refunds.
DEPOSITS
No appointment is finalized until a deposit is collected.
Deposits are for the overall design, and are applied to the final payment of the finishing session of your piece.
Deposits are per-design and non-transferrable, therefore, in the event that you change your mind on your concept after a deposit is collected, your deposit towards that concept will remain on file for 90 days. After 90 days, if you still do not wish to proceed with the concept that the deposit was paid towards, the deposit will be forfeited. If you wish to keep your appointment but change your concept entirely (not make changes to the design, change the entire concept) a new deposit will be required.
Deposits are non-refundable.
NUMBING CREAM
My preference is that you do not use numbing cream. This is because, in my own experience with the way that I apply my tattoos, numbing cream affects my tattoo process. The texture of the skin changes with numbing cream, regardless of brands used, some are just easier to work with than others. The change in texture makes the skin less accepting of my application techniques, as I prefer to work with a much more gentle approach for a better heal. Therefore, numb skin takes me much longer to evenly saturate. As well, numbing cream affects the skins ability to hold pigment through the healing process. I find that my darkest tones come back much lighter when applied to numb skin, resulting in additional time spent re-saturating those areas, through no fault of my own.
However, I understand that numbing cream is very commonly used in today's tattoo culture, therefore, if you feel you must use it, I require that you sign a waiver stating that you understand that your use of numbing cream may result in your tattoo taking longer, requiring more sessions, and costing more $ to complete overall than if you had not numbed.
CONSULTATIONS
I require some-form of consultation for all of my pieces for many reasons, here are just a few of them:
-
I care very much about your artwork. I understand that to you, this is something you will carry on your body for the rest of your life. Therefore, it cannot be treated as "just a days work" on my part. I want to know why you're getting your tattoo - is it sentimental? Do you just like the artwork? Does it represent your job, a hobby, or special interest of yours? Are you going through a big life change? All of these things will tell me what the true concept is - beyond the desired imagery. As well, will give me an indication of what your tattoo may go through as you live your life (sun exposure etc).
-
I prioritize the best healed result, and different skin textures and complexions require different techniques and tones in order to last years to come. In person consultations allow me to get all of the information I need about your skin, and your lifestyle, in order to plan how to approach your design to give you the best results for your individual skin type.
-
It's very important to me that my designs flatter the natural flow of your body. In-person consultations allow us the ability to take photos of our desired placement area in order to design your tattoo exactly to your anatomy. This avoids any chance of components looking warped once the art is transferred from a flat canvas to the curvature of the human body, because the artwork was designed exactly for the area we plan to tattoo it on. If in-person is not an option, we will do a video chat instead, where I will guide you through the photos I will need of the placement area to properly work on your design.
-
I need measurements in order to design to your body, but also to concisely prep the size of our stencil so that we don't waste time playing with sizing at your appointment.
-
Consultations are the only way for me to give you an accurate estimate of cost, as I will be collecting all of the information necessary for me to assess the amount of sessions required.
-
Deposits are both mandatory for booking & non-transferrable to a new design. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that I fully understand your vision before collecting your deposit and locking in your commitment to the concept.
TOUCH UPS
I want to ensure that you have a beautiful tattoo from day 1. Therefore, I want to see your tattoo within 3 weeks to one month after your final session. At that point, we will assess if any touchups are required, and book you in for a free session if needed. Complimentary touch-ups must be booked within 90 days. 1 complimentary touch-up per piece, and not all pieces will require any touch-ups. Please note that certain placements, such as fingers, may require additional maintenance touchups that are not covered by the complimentary touch up policy.
CANCELLATIONS & RESCHEDULES
Kendra Maxine Tattoo requires 48 hours notice in the event that you need to cancel/reschedule your tattoo. Please note that multiple reschedules for the same appointment may result in forfeiture of your deposit. In the event that you must cancel your tattoo, your deposit will remain on file for 90 days, in case you decide to revisit the concept in that timeframe. If you do not reschedule within 90 days, your deposit will be forfeited. Cancellations & reschedules made within 24 hours of your booking, may result in forfeiture of your deposit.
LATE ARRIVALS
Please arrive to your appointment on-time. If you are running late, please notify Kendra through the same method of contact you used for booking. Please note, that if you are late by 15 minutes or more, your appointment may have to be rescheduled.
AGE RESTRICTIONS
The absolute minimum age I tattoo is 18, with conditions.
I reserve the right to refuse concept & placement for any reason I see fit,

PLACEMENT
There are some placements I will not tattoo.
-
Bottom of feet & palms of hands. This skin is not likely to hold ink, and should only be tattooed by someone who is confident and experienced working with it. As that's not the field I wish to specialize in, I do not offer these placements.
-
Genitals. I am not comfortable handling any genitals, no exceptions.
I reserve the right to refuse any placement for any reason I see fit.
REFUNDS
We do not offer refunds on deposits or tattoos, under any circumstances, no exceptions. I am more than happy to work with you on the design & placement until you're fully satisfied with the tattoo you are consenting to receive. Therefore, I do not offer refunds.
