I require some-form of consultation for all of my pieces for many reasons, here are just a few of them: • I care very much about your artwork. I understand that to you, this is something you will carry on your body for the rest of your life. Therefore, it cannot be treated as "just a days work" on my part. I want to know why you're getting your tattoo - is it sentimental? Do you just like the artwork? Does it represent your job, a hobby, or special interest of yours? Are you going through a big life change? All of these things will tell me what the true concept is - beyond the desired imagery. As well, will give me an indication of what your tattoo may go through as you live your life (sun exposure etc). • I prioritize the best healed result, and different skin textures and complexions require different techniques and tones in order to last years to come. In person consultations allow me to get all of the information I need about your skin, and your lifestyle, in order to plan how to approach your design to give you the best results for your individual skin type. • It's very important to me that my designs flatter the natural flow of your body. In-person consultations allow us the ability to take photos of our desired placement area in order to design your tattoo exactly to your anatomy. This avoids any chance of components looking warped once the art is transferred from a flat canvas to the curvature of the human body, because the artwork was designed exactly for the area we plan to tattoo it on. If in-person is not an option, we will do a video chat instead, where I will guide you through the photos I will need of the placement area to properly work on your design. • I need measurements in order to design to your body, but also to concisely prep the size of our stencil so that we don't waste time playing with sizing at your appointment. • Consultations are the only way for me to give you an accurate estimate of cost, as I will be collecting all of the information necessary for me to assess the amount of sessions required. • Deposits are both mandatory for booking & non-transferrable to a new design. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that I fully understand your vision before collecting your deposit and locking in your commitment to the concept. • Consultations give us a chance to see if we are a good match. Giving me your time and your trust is a gift, and we may be working together for awhile. It will be best for both of us if we enjoy interacting with one another. I want you to ensure that you're comfortable with me, my space, and my policies & practices before you commit.

I prefer that you do not use numbing cream. This is because, despite some other artist's experiences, numbing cream does not work well with my specific application techniques. My approach to tattooing requires the tones to be gently layered into the skin, for a quick & healthy heal. In my experience, every brand of numbing cream changes the texture of the skin slightly. Other application and art styles may work better with these changes than my own. However, I find that the numbed texture makes the skin less capable of smooth saturation with my specific approach. Resulting in more time spent saturating and smoothing my shading than on skin that was not numbed prior. I also find that my blacks & darkest tones do not heal as black on numbed skin, as they do on non-numb skin. This means that those areas require additional layers in additional sessions to reach the true depth of the tone required. Lastly, in my own personal experience with using numbing cream on myself, and working with clients who used it, it makes the tattoo pain much worse once you finally do feel it. This is because it hits you all at once, triggering your body's "I'm in danger" responses. This experience results in more breaks being taken, and less time being used to actually work on the piece in your session. Whereas, if you let yourself ease into the pain, and have it increase slowly, you're much more likely to be able to get through a longer appointment. However, I myself do not like the pain of being tattooed and I can empathize with the desire to numb. Therefore, if you insist on numbing, you must first talk to me about the brand you plan to use. Then, I will have you sign a waiver indicating that, due to all the reasons listed above, you acknowledge and understand that your tattoo will likely require more sessions to complete, and cost more overall than if you had not numbed.

Although there is no legal age restrictions on minors being tattooed in BC, I do not tattoo minors.

No. I cannot control the cleanliness and sanitation of environments outside of a tattoo studio. You may see me at conventions & guest spots in other studios from time to time, but I will not come to your home or other venue.

Kind of. I want you to have the tattoo that you want, but I also want you to have a good tattoo, and I must respect other artists by not stealing their artwork. 99% of the time, I will need to re-draw the piece in order to make it tattooable, and make it uniquely yours. There are certain circumstances, such as someone's signature, or your child's doodle, etc, where I would not re-draw at all. However, even if it's just slight adjustments, there is a high possibility that I will do some re-drawing to pieces I am asked to duplicate.

I do not offer face, neck or hand tattoos for first time tattoos. This is due to 2 factors: 1: The unfortunate reality that these placements still come with societal stigmas that could affect ones ability to gain employment, or other opportunities. Clients who are already heavily tattooed have likely faced some of the judgements that come with the aesthetic, and therefore are making the decision to tattoo their hands/neck/face from an informed standpoint. It's not about "earning" the placement, but fully understanding what you could be signing up for in regards to scrutiny. 2: Tattoos on the hands in particular, heal differently than other areas of the body. Therefore, I prefer clients have adequate experience receiving, caring for, and healing tattoos before having hands and fingers tattooed.
